Four months into the new year, the Regina Police Service (RPS) has spent less than anticipated.
Through 33 per cent of the budget year complete, the RPS spent 31 per cent of its operating budget.
The police service has seen $376,000 worth of savings with unpaid leaves and staff vacancies, as well as recorded costs from officers working with other police agencies accounting for the savings.
The RPS was approved to have a net operating budget of $98.1 million, including over $110 million in gross operating expenditures and $11.9 million in anticipated revenues in 2023.
That represented a $5.3 million or 5.7 per cent increase compared to 2022.
