Road construction on Victoria Avenue in downtown Regina continues Sunday morning

Traffic on Victoria Avenue through downtown Regina will be restricted starting Sunday morning as the second year of a $6 million multi-year infrastructure improvement and beautification project continues.

The project, which will see work finished from last year between Albert and Cornwall and new work from Cornwall to Broad will see:

  • A contemporary palette of paving, lighting and furnishings distinctive to Regina’s downtown.
  • New modern black powder coated traffic signal poles and enhanced street lighting.
  • Five intersection improvements with larger curbs for pedestrian safety.
  • Streetscape improvements with new boulevards and wider sidewalks on the north side.
  • Repairs to catch basins and sewer accesses.
  • A combined 80 new trees replanted in the boulevards and in Victoria Park.

Between 8:30 and 1 p.m., Victoria Avenue will be restricted to one lane in both directions between Cornwall and Hamilton as crews remove trees in poor health from the boulevard.

Eastbound traffic on Victoria Avenue will be restricted April 21 to 22 to one lane between Cornwall and Hamilton as survey work is completed.  On April 21, traffic on Scarth between 13th and Victoria will be two-way temporarily.

Starting April 23, traffic on Victoria between Cornwall and Hamilton will be restricted to one lane in each direction with Scarth between 13th and Victoria once again being a temporary two-way.  This will be in effect for five weeks.

Sidewalks will be closed to pedestrians while construction is going on, and there will be no on-street parking on Victoria in the construction zone. Parking may also be limited on side streets.
