SGI says the Goat is back, as part of National Teen Driver Safety week.
Spokesman Tyler McMurchy explains the Goat, in this case, is a virtual mascot, and is part of a campaign being run on social media. “Teens between the ages of 15-19 are invited to like one of SGI’s Stop the Goat social media posts and tag two friends between now and October 20th.”
By doing so, they’re entered to win one of 10 $250 Visa gift cards.
McMurchy says the initiative targets teens because the numbers show the need for the program. “About seven percent of drivers in Saskatchewan are 19 or younger, but in 2019 those teen drivers were involved in 16 percent of all major injury collisions and nine percent of all fatal collisions in Saskatchewan.”
There are three focuses in this year’s campaign including impaired driving, speeding and distracted driving.
