Ground to be broken on new Weyburn hospital

Ground will be broken in Weyburn this week on a new hospital for the community.

The new 35-bed new hospital will include a 9,730 square meter area to replace the existing Weyburn General Hospital. The hospital will include an emergency medical services garage and an adjacent helipad for supporting safer and patient transport efficiency.

Also, 25 acute care beds and a 10-bed mental health inpatient unit will be transferred from Tatagwa View.

“Today’s groundbreaking is a momentous occasion for our community and surrounding areas,” Education Minister and Weyburn-Big Muddy MLA Dustin Duncan said in a media release.

The location for the new hospital is 275 5th Ave. N in Weyburn.

Wright Construction Western Inc will be onsite beginning the construction, which is expected to be completed by December, 2025.
