The daily briefing from the Saskatchewan government on COVID19 is not as optimistic as other days.
A 6th person has died from the virus. That person was in their 80’s and from the far north region.
In addition, the province has recorded its highest total of cases in one day since April 4 as there are 17 new positive cases bringing the total to 383. 11 of those 17 are in La Loche according to the government with the other five in the north region (four in Lloydminster) and one from the Saskatoon area.
Recoveries remain at 291 with 86 of the cases being active. 10 are in hospital with three in intensive care. All three of those are out of Saskatoon.
The new cases in Lloydminster have been linked to a cluster based at the city’s hospital with 13 cases being identified. Five of those are health workers and the other eight patients with transmission occurring in the hospital setting. The government says patients have been cohorted in separate units at the hospital and that while COVID19 patients will still be admitted to the faciilty and that key services are still available, non-COVID19 patients could be sent to another hospital.
