Regina Folk Festival pleads for help amoung “serious financial crisis”

The Regina Folk Festival is looking to the community for help.

Through social media, the festival stated that it is struggling.

“It’s no secret that the festival has experienced significant challenges over the past several years, which we continue to feel the effects of,” the post read. “The economic challenges resulting from the pandemic include stagnant funding, decreased sponsorship, increased expenses, and reduced ticket sales.”

“We now find ourselves in a serious financial crisis that threatens the future of our non-profit organization. We urgently need help to sustain our beloved community-grown festival.”

In the post asking for help, the festival outlined many ways residents can help the festival, including spreading the word about the festival, buying festival passes in advance, volunteering, and donating or sponsoring the festival directly.

Since 1969, the Folk Festival has been a staple of the Queen City and is scheduled to run from August 11 to August 13 in Victoria Park.
